SECTION 01091 <br />REFERENCE STANDARDS <br />1.1 GENERAL <br />A. Whenever reference is made to the furnishing of materials or testing <br />thereof to conform to the standards of any technical society, organization <br />or body, it shall be construed to mean the latest standard, code, <br />specification or tentative specification adopted and published at the date <br />of advertisement for bids, unless noted otherwise in the Technical <br />Specifications or on the Drawings. When a reference standard is <br />specified, comply with requirements and recommendations stated in that <br />standard, except when they are modified by the Contract Documents, or <br />when applicable laws, ordinances, rules, regulations or codes establish <br />stricter standards. The list of specifications presented in Paragraph B is <br />hereby made a part of the Contract, the same as if repeated herein in full. <br />B. Reference to a technical society, organization, or body may be made in <br />the Specifications by abbreviations, in accordance with the following list: <br />AASHTO The American Association of State Highway and <br />Transportation Officials <br />ACI American Concrete Institute <br />AGA American Gas Association <br />AISC American Institute of Steel Construction <br />AISI American Iron and Steel Institute <br />ANSI American National Standards Institute <br />ASCE American Society of Civil Engineers <br />ASTM American Society for Testing and Materials <br />AWPA American Wood Preservers Association <br />AWWA American Water Works Association <br />AWS American Welding Society <br />FED.SPEC.
