26.04 ACCRUAL <br />A. For all employees hired prior to the date of ratification of this agreement, Mmedical <br />leave may be accumulated for a total of no more than one hundred (100) days at the <br />employee's anniversary date. <br />B. For all employees hired after the date of ratification of this agreement, medical leave <br />may be accumulated for a total of no more than (100) days. Any medical leave in <br />excess of the (100) day threshold at the end of the calendar year will be forfeited <br />without compensation. <br />26.05 USE OF MEDICAL LEAVE <br />MEDICAL LEAVE MAY BE GRANTED FOR THE FOLLOWING PURPOSES: <br />A. Personal injury, pregnancy or illness not connected with work. <br />B. Medical, dental, optical or chiropractic examination or treatment. (Refer <br />to "D" for members of employee's family.) <br />C. Exposure to a contagious disease which would endanger others. <br />D. Illness of a member of the employee's immediate family who lives <br />permanently in the same domicile which requires the personal care and <br />attention of the employee. No more than five (5) working days a year may <br />be taken for this purpose without approval of the Emergency Services <br />Director (see definition of immediate family in Article 24). <br />E. Events in accordance with the Family and Medical Leave Act of 1993. <br />26.06 REQUEST FOR LEAVE <br />A. To receive compensation while absent on medical leave, the employee <br />shall notify the employee's immediate supervisor or Emergency Services <br />Director prior to or as soon as possible after time set for beginning the <br />L47 <br />
