ARTICLE 6 <br />UNION ACTIVITY <br />6.01 The Employer and the Union acknowledge that the right of employees to work shall not <br />be deprived or abridged on account of membership, non -membership, participation, or <br />non -participation in any Union or organization. <br />6.02 The Union and The County agree to create a Union business bank to be <br />administered by the Union. The Union Business Bank shall be used at the discretion <br />of the union president or his designee to conduct union business. The Union <br />business bank shall be funded using 12 hours straight time for shift employees from <br />the first holiday of the calendar year ( New Year's Day ) as identified in article <br />25.01, and no shift employees shall receive holiday overtime pay for working on New <br />Year's day (as identified in 25.03). 7.5 hours of annual leave will be used for 40 Hr. <br />employees unless the employee has less than 7.5 hours leave available, then no time <br />shall be taken. Non Union employees may donate to this bank if they so wish. The <br />account will be maintained by the County, and reported quarterly to the Union. <br />Employees may voluntarily donate additional hours of unused annual leave to the <br />account at their discretion. The unused hours in the Union business bank will be <br />accumulative year to year. if union business is to be conducted, the time off shall be <br />considered union time, and charged at straight time from the Union Business bank. <br />If the time off creates overtime, the Union business bank shall be charged time and <br />one half to offset the expense to the county. No request for Union business bank <br />usage approved by the Union President shall be unreasonably denied. "r`�on <br />6.03 The Fair Chairman, and Fair Committee heads, and other personnel identified by <br />the Union President or his designee shall be allowed to use standby arrangements <br />for charitable purposes throughout the year.
