Both PSC orders were issued on February
12, 2015. On March 3, 2015, the Indian River County Board of County Commissioners authorized the
County Attorney to file an appeal of the two matters. In March, the notices of appeal were filed with the
Florida Supreme Court.
On April 6, 2015, I informed the Board that Floyd Self, our outside counsel with respect to the electric
utility issue, was joining the law firm of Berger Singerman. The law firm has over 100 attorneys and
has offices in Miami, Ft. Lauderdale, Boca Raton and Tallahassee. Although the firm's billing rate for
attorneys ranges from $250.00 per hour to $695.00 per hour, Floyd Self will continue to charge Indian
River County at his $275.00 per hour rate.
Attached is an engagement letter with the law firm of Berger Singerman LLP.
Indian River Co.
