The County has entered into a Local Funding Agreement (LFA)with the Florida Department of
Transportation to provide funding assistance to the FDOT during the right-of-way acquisition phase of
the SR60/43Av widening project. Under the terms of the agreement, local agencies are obligated to
pay $4,404,627 or 50% of the $8,809,254 right-of-way acquisition cost over a 3-year period.
Given that 43rd Avenue is the north-south boundary line between the City of Vero Beach and the
County, and also because 43rd Avenue is a primary thoroughfare serving both City and County
residents, we feel that the City of Vero Beach should split the cost of the local match (50-50) with the
County. The County proposes to fund its share of the local match from the County's share of the
Optional Sales Tax, and we request that the City consider taking similar action.
Thanks for your consideration.
Chris
Christopher R. Mora, P.E.
Public Works Director
Indian River County
1801 27th Street, Vero Beach, FL 32960
telephone: (772) 226-1379
email: cmora(ajrcgov.com
Please Note:Florida has a very broad Public Records Law.Most written communications to or from State and Local Officials and agencies regarding State or
Local business are public records available to the public and media upon request.Your email communications, including your email address, may therefore be
subject to public disclosure.
2
19
