4. APPROVAL OF MINUTES OF THE VAB MEETING HELD AUGUST <br /> 26, 2008 <br /> On Motion by Vice Chairman Flescher, Seconded by <br /> Board Member Weise, the Board unanimously <br /> approved the VAB Minutes of August 26, 2008, as <br /> written and distributed. <br /> 5. INTRODUCTION OF NEWLY APPOINTED VAB BOARD <br /> MEMBERS DUANE WEISE AND ROSE SPYTEK, AND NEWLY HIRED <br /> VAB ATTORNEY DAVID HANCOCK <br /> Chairman O'Bryan gave a brief explanation of how VAB hearings have been <br /> handled in prior years, and he explained the current petition hearing process for the <br /> newly appointed VAB Members. <br /> The Board Members posed questions to Property Appraiser Nolte and <br /> Attorney Hancock to obtain more information regarding their responsibilities and <br /> the responsibilities of others in the VAB process. <br /> Chairman O'Bryan announced that the Board of County Commissioners on <br /> July 15, 2008 approved Resolution 2008-105 appointing the 2008 Value <br /> Adjustment Board Members, and providing statutory per diem compensation, and <br /> the School Board approved to accept per diem at their meeting. He asked the VAB <br /> Clerk to have the appropriate form available for the Board Members, if needed. <br /> Rose Spytek inquired about schooling for Citizen Members, and VAB Clerk <br /> Suesz explained that the Department of Revenue (DOR) would be providing <br /> training in five different locations around the State, but the training schedule would <br /> not be available until the summer of 2009. <br /> 6. SECURITY AT HEARINGS — OFF DUTY DEPUTIES <br /> Chairman O'Bryan briefed Board Members telling them there has been some <br /> concern in the past about maintaining order at the hearings, and that the Sheriff had <br /> been contacted to provide some type of security at the hearings.
