Three (3) qualified General Contractors submitted bids, <br /> which varied from a low of Three Hundred Fourteen Thousand Dollars ($314,000.00) to Three <br /> Hundred Ninety Thousand Five Hundred Five Dollars (390,505.00). These bids include a Force <br /> Account of$30,000.00. Therefore, the low bid amount(without the Force Account) is $284,000.00 or <br /> 9.2% above the Utility Department's budget and the Engineer's opinion of probable cost. A copy of <br /> the bid tabulation sheet is attached. The low bidder is Mack Concrete Industries, Inc. of Astatula, <br /> Florida. <br /> I have reviewed each of the three (3) bids and find the information in all three (3) bids to be complete <br /> and in order. <br /> My assumption is the low bid is higher than our opinion of probable cost because the project site is <br /> remote and site conditions are tight and do not allow much room for construction activities. <br /> In my professional opinion, the low bid is the best that can be achieved and I recommend contract <br /> award to Mack Concrete Industries, Inc. <br /> Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or comments. <br /> Respectfully submitted, <br /> MASTELLER& MOLER, INC. <br /> Earl H.
