Davis, Chairman <br /> Board of County Commissioners <br /> 1801 27th Street <br /> Vero Beach,Florida 32960-3388 • <br /> RE: FY 2015/2016 Judicial Budget Request <br /> • <br /> Dear Commissioner Davis: <br /> Please find attached the Nineteenth Judicial Circuit's fiscal year 2015/2016 budget request-as approved by <br /> Chief Judge Steven J.Levin. Unless otherwise specified, each county's share of each item is based upon that <br /> county's percentage of the total population of this Circuit. <br /> • <br /> A brief explanation of the items in the budget request is as follows: <br /> A. Rent: Article V of the State Constitution and section 29.008, Florida Statutes requires the counties <br /> to provide facilities for the circuit and county courts. The court is not provided with amounts for <br /> rent. <br /> B. Utilities: Article V of the State Constitution and section 29.008,Florida Statutes requires the <br /> counties to provide utilities to the courts. The court is not provided with amounts for utilities. <br /> C. Communications: Article V of the State Constitution and section 29.008,Florida Statutes requires <br /> the counties to provide "[t]elephone system infrastructure, including computer lines,telephone <br /> switching equipment, and maintenance, and facsimile equipment,wireless communications, cellular <br /> telephones,pagers, and video teleconferencing equipment and line charges.Each county shall <br /> continue to provide access to a local carrier for local and long distance service and shall pay toll <br /> charges for local and long distance service local and long distance telephone services." The amount <br /> of this expense is not provided to the court for three counties. In addition,there is a continuation of <br /> courier services between the courthouse sites throughout the Circuit in this year's budget request in <br /> the amount of$19,268.00,which is divided among the counties based upon population percentage. <br /> D. Information Technology Services: Article V of the State Constitution and section 29.008,Florida <br /> Statutes requires the counties to provide "[a]ll computer networks, systems and equipment, including <br /> computer hardware and software,modems,printers,wiring,network connections, maintenance, <br /> support staff or services including any county-funded support staff located in the offices of the <br /> circuit court, county courts[.]" This year's budget request includes the continuation of four <br /> 250 N.W.Country Club Drive,Suite 217•Port St.Lucie,FL 34986•(772)807-4370•FAX(772)807-4377 <br /> 51 <br />
