• <br /> 4/15/87rosoxoastaWk <br /> L' <br /> RESOLUTION NO.97-32 <br /> A RESOLUTION OF INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, FLORIDA, TO <br /> THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF FLORIDA IN <br /> FAVOR OF RETAINING THE MURPHY ACT. <br /> WHEREAS, Senate and House Bills have been filed with the Legislature of the <br /> State of Florida,which would in fact repeal the Murphy Act,which has been in effect since <br /> 1937; and <br /> WHEREAS, the right of way protected by the Murphy Act has enabled Florida <br /> counties and cities to construct and improve better and safer roadways for the protection <br /> of all of the residents of Florida, and, if local governments can no longer rely on Murphy <br /> Act rights of way and must instead purchase the same rights of way, the ability of local <br /> governments to provide safe roadways will be severely impaired; <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY <br /> COMMISSIONERS OF INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, FLORIDA, that Indian River County <br /> respectfully requests that the Legislature of the State of Florida retain the Murphy Act as it <br /> has been for the last 60 years. <br /> The resolution was moved for adoption by Commissioner Macht, and the motion <br /> was seconded by Commissioner Ginn, and, upon being put to a vote, the vote was as <br /> follows: <br /> Chairman Carolyn K. Eggert Aye <br /> Vice Chairman John W. Tippin Aye <br /> Commissioner Caroline D. Ginn Aye <br /> Commissioner Fran B.Adams Aye <br /> Commissioner Kenneth R.
