AUG-29-1997 1226 COUNCIL ON AGING 561 it7272 P.02/02 <br /> r <br /> I <br /> i <br /> i <br /> RESOLUTION 97-85 <br /> BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY CON&USSIONERS OF <br /> INDIAN RIVER COUNTY TRANSIT AUTHORITY (hereinafter somclimes called th, <br /> "AUTHOR]=) that as a result of the implementation of Section 1003 (b)of the Intermodal <br /> Surface Tr=sporta =EtEciawy Act of 1991,which provided that except to the extent that the <br /> Secretary of the U.S.Department of Transportation amcdnafter rafarred to s"DOT^)determines <br /> otherwise,not las than ten percent ofthe amounts authorized to be appropriated under the Act shall <br /> be ocpeoded with small business conoems owned appropriated under the Act shall be expended with <br /> small business concerns owned and controlled by socially and economically disadvantaged <br /> individuals;and <br /> WIMREAS,the TRANSIT AUTHORITY has developed an afbiimative action plan to assure <br /> that Disadvantaged Business Enterprise QIC mAp. _.bit d "DBE"), shall have the maximum <br /> Practicable oPPOMMity to participate in the performance of contracts financed in whole or in part <br /> with funds derived from the U.S.Department of Transportation for the Authority;and <br /> WHEREAS,the AUTHORITY,in keeping with this commitment has established a DBE <br /> Goal of 12%of all Federal Transit Administration Omminaft reffirM lu jge,wA,,)funds for FY <br /> 1996-1997 available for contracting to be expended with disadvantaged business enterprises)and; <br /> WHEREAS, the AUTHORITY authorizes the Executive Director of the Indian River <br /> County Council on Aging to submit a Disadvantaged Business enterprise Affirmative Action Plan <br /> to the FTA;and <br /> VMMAS,the AUTHORITY understands that failure to carry out this Plan may result in <br /> the termination of FTA funding <br /> THE DIRECTORS do hereby declare that it is the policy of the AUTHORITY to establish,review <br /> and maintain specific measurable and attainable percentage goals for DBE participation in contracts <br /> utilizing FTA funds. <br /> aro n g t; ;;Chairman <br /> Boar of Cou Currlmi,ssioners <br /> Indian River County, • 'Ibrida <br /> September 2, 1997 <br />
