RESOLUTION NO. 2000- 015 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF INDIAN RIVER <br />COUNTY, FLORIDA, EXPRESSING ITS SUPPORT FOR A NEW I-95 INTERCHANGE <br />AT OSLO ROAD AND ENCOURAGING THE APPLICABLE STATE AND FEDERAL <br />AGENCIES, UPON RECEIPT AND REVIEW OF THE INTERCHANGE JUSTIFICATION <br />REPORT (IJR), TO APPROVE THE IJR. <br />WHEREAS, the Indian River County Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) is <br />responsible for preparing and adopting a Long Range Transportation Plan (LRTP) for the MPO area <br />and preparing annual Priority Projects Lists to implement the LRTP; and <br />WHEREAS, both the LRTP and the most recent Priority Projects Lists include an Oslo <br />Road/I-95 interchange project; and <br />WHEREAS, the MPO, on July 14, 1999 passed a resolution expressing its support for a new <br />I-95 interchange at Oslo Road and requesting that the Florida Department of Transportation and the <br />Federal Highway Administration assist Indian River County in obtaining approval of the proposed <br />interchange; and <br />WHEREAS, coordination between the county and the MPO in the preparation and <br />implementation of the Transportation Element of the Comprehensive Plan is a cooperative effort; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, table 4.7.2 of the Transportation Element identifies an I-95 interchange at Oslo <br />Road as a future roadway improvement; and <br />WHEREAS, the Indian River County Economic Development Council, which is <br />representative of the various sectors of the local economy, came to a consensus to support the <br />proposed I-95 interchange at Oslo Road; and <br />WHEREAS, an I-95 Interchange at Oslo Road will reduce future traffic congestion within <br />the County, reduce hurricane and other natural disaster evacuation clearance times, and enhance <br />economic development; and <br />WHEREAS, a consultant has been hired by the MPO and is preparing an Interchange <br />Justification Report (IJR) for a proposed I-95 interchange at Oslo Road <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of <br />Indian River County, Florida, that: <br />SECTION 1. Indian River County, Florida expresses its strong support for an 1-95 . <br />interchange at Oslo Road and encourages the applicable state and federal agencies, upon receipt and <br />review of the IJR, to approve the IJR. <br />
