RESOLUTION 2000-035 <br />A RESOLUTION OF INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, FLORIDA <br />FOR ASSISTANCE <br />UNDER THE FLORIDA INLAND NAVIGATION DISTRICT <br />WATERWAYS ASSISTANCE PROGRAM <br />WHEREAS, THE Board of County Commissioners of Indian River County is interested in carrying <br />out the following described project for the enjoyment of the citizenry of Indian River County and the State of <br />Florida: <br />Project Title PRANGE ISLANDS CONSERVATION AREA PUBLIC IMPROVEMENTS <br />Total Estimated Cost $ $40,000.00 <br />Brief Description of Project: The Prange Islands Conservation Area consists of two adjacent islands in <br />the Indian River Lagoon just south of the 17`h Street Causeway Bridge, immediately north of the southern Vero <br />Beach city limits along the east shore of the lagoon. The property was purchased in April, 1996 by Indian <br />River County with a 40% cost share grant from the Florida Communities Trust. In addition to replanting the <br />northern part of Prange Island with native species and resource management, a small boat dock has been <br />designed to hold boats beyond the boundaries of seagrass beds in order to lessen harmful impact and erosion <br />caused by current use. The dock structure will also provide opportunities for fishing recreation and education. <br />Signs around the boundaries of existing seagrass beds will be installed to inform boaters of the dock location <br />and exclude boat access from those areas. Also, picnic tables, interpretive signs and a nature trail have been <br />included in the project to provide environmental education and passive recreation for users. <br />above, <br />AND, Florida Inland Navigation District financial assistance is required for the program mentioned <br />NOW THEREFORE, be it resolved by the Board of County Commissioners of Indian River Count <br />that the project described above be authorized, <br />AND, be it further resolved that said Board of County Commissioners of Indian River County make <br />application to the Florida Inland Navigation District in the amount of 50.0% of the actual cost of the project in <br />behalf of said Board of County Commissioners of Indian River County <br />AND, be it further resolved by the Board of County Commissioners of Indian River County that it <br />certifies to the following: <br />1. That it will accept the terms and conditions set forth in FIND Rule 6613-2 F.A.C. and which will <br />be a part of the Project Agreement for any assistance awarded under the attached proposal. <br />
