TO: Board of County Commissioners <br />FROM: Jonathan Gorham, Environmental Analyst <br />DATE: September 17, 2002 <br />The following motions were made at the Beach and Shore Preservation <br />Advisory Committee meeting on September 16, 2002: <br />ON MOTION BY Mr. Gross, SECONDED BY Mr. <br />Polverari, the Board voted unanimously (7-0) <br />to recommend the Board of County <br />Commissioners move ahead with Alternative <br />#1 for Sector #7. Alternative #1 calls for <br />placing 417,000 cubic yards of sand on the <br />beach, with no structures and a 5 -year <br />renourishment period. <br />ON MOTION BY Mr. Lowther, SECONDED BY <br />Mr Polverari the Board voted unanimously <br />(7-0) to recommend the Board of County <br />Commissioners look for any feasible piece of <br />property that could be utilized as beach <br />access for Sector #7, in order to help obtain <br />state funding. <br />Commissioner Ginn emphasized the expense of this project and felt that more efforts <br />should be made to attempt to obtain State funding. <br />Commissioner Adams stated that reasoning with the politicians is not as easy as it should <br />be and that there is not as much cooperation with this administration as with the prior one. <br />However, if any funding can be found, application will certainly be made. <br />OCTOBER 1, 2002 74 <br />
