Kafer, Jr., P <br />County Engineer <br />SUBJECT: Request for Floodplain Cut and Fill Balance Waiver for Lot 14, Block 20, <br />Vero Lake Estates Unit 4 <br />REFERENCE: Project No. 2001120083-29525 <br />DATE: January 9, 2002 <br />CONSENT AGENDA <br />DESCRIPTION AND CONDITIONS <br />Tozzolo Brothers Construction Co. has submitted a building permit application for a single family <br />residence on the subject property The site is located in an AE special flood hazard zone, base flood <br />elevation 23.0 ft. N.G.V.D. In the attached letter from the applicant's engineer dated January 7 <br />2002, a waiver of the cut and fill requirements is requested. The lot area is 1.08 acres. The volume <br />of the 100 year floodplain displaced by the proposed grading plan is estimated to be 825 cubic yards. <br />ALTERNATIVES AND ANALYSIS <br />The waiver request has been reviewed by staff and appears to meet the criteria of Section <br />930.07(2)(d)4. of the Stoi thwater Management and Flood Protection Ordinance for lots located in the <br />Vero Lake Estates Municipal Services Taxing Unit. <br />Alternative No. I <br />Grant the cut and fill balance waiver based on the criteria of Section 930.07(2)(d)4. <br />Alternative No. 2 <br />Deny the cut and fill waiver. Require an on site retention area be provided to compensate for the <br />proposed floodplain displacement. <br />RECOMME\DATIONS <br />Staff recommends approval of Alternative No. I . <br />ATTACHMENTS <br />Letter from Ronald G.
