<br /> care of themselves -of anyone . We need at least a 2 year delay in the closing to prepare
<br /> locally for their care . He will bring this matter before the City Council and asked that
<br /> everyone contact their congressman to ask for assistance in these preparations before moving

<br /> Chairman Ginn wanted to take this matter to the Legislative Delegation on Friday .

<br /> She did not want to oppose the closing of the hospital . The patients are well - cared - for but
<br /> the building is old and lacks modern conveniences .
<br /> Mr . Fletcher emphasized that they have a great staff at G . Pierce Wood , they just
<br /> don ' t have enough money or the proper facilities .

<br /> Commissioner Tippin commented that he had visited G . Pierce Wood 5 or 6 years ago
<br /> and was amazed at the smiles on the faces of the patients . They all appeared to be happy
<br /> t there and they absolutely cannot take care of themselves .
<br /> Chairman Ginn recommended that a delay in closing be requested from the Legislative
<br /> Delegation and a demand made to insure funds for local communities to deal with this
<br /> situation .
<br /> ON MOTION by Commissioner Tippin ,
<br /> SECONDED by Commissioner Stanbridge .. the
<br /> Board unanimously approved presenting the matter
<br /> to the Legislative Delegation , not opposing the
<br /> closure of G . Pierce Wood Hospital but requesting
<br /> that such closure not take place until local
<br /> infrastructure is funded and in place .
