• <br />Commissioner Macht felt it best not to use any kind of scare tactics to move this. <br />Because the LAAC had rejected this previously, Chairman Stanbridge believed there <br />was no other way to acquire this property. <br />Commissioner Macht felt this could be presented to LAAC at any time, also the Board <br />could act outside the LAAC anytime. <br />Ms. Smith suggested for this meeting the Board vote to go forward with the <br />acquisition with the possibility of a lease/purchase agreement with the TFPL which would <br />not prevent the Board in the next several months from considering other sources that might <br />be available. She felt it was important to try to get a vote this morning which would allow <br />the TFPL to go forward with the appraisal work and other due diligence to be in a position <br />to close on the property when the contract is ready to expire. <br />Commissioner Ginn thought that when staff began to pursue this they were going to <br />go out and look for the money and bring it back to the Board when they had found it. It looks <br />like they found it quite close to home. She supported the project, but agreed that it did need <br />to go through the LAAC and be expedited. <br />Commissioner Macht believed the LAAC meeting was January 23' and the <br />recommendation could be back for the Board's first meeting in February. Mr DeBlois could <br />authorize an appraisal; he would much rather have the County's appraisal. It could probably <br />all be accomplished in 6 weeks. <br />Community Development Director Robert Keating felt the issue was the referendum <br />question. <br />Commissioner Ginn thought it was certainly environmentally sensitive being right <br />along the river. <br />Commissioner Adams thought it would be necessary to look at the plant community <br />and other things.
