5.4.2. PROCLAMATION HONORING RUTH M. STANBRIDGE <br />Commissioner Ginn then read the following Proclamation honoring Chairman <br />Stanbridge: <br />PROCLAMATION <br />HONORING RUTH M. STANBRIDGE <br />WHEREAS, RUTH M. STANBRIDGE was elected to the Indian River County Board of County <br />Commissioners by the citizens of Indian River County in 1998, and was elected Chairman of the Board by her <br />-fello'w Commissioners in 2002; and <br />WHEREAS, during her term, RUTH. M. STANBRIDGE served as Chairman of the Community <br />-Development Block Grant Advisory Committee. Historic Resources Advisory Committee andj he Tfansporfation <br />Disadvantaged Local Coordinating Board; as a member of the Steering Committee for the SC .[ours=American <br />Heritage. River, Indian River Lagoon Scenic Highway Committee, Jobs and Educational-fPaitherafilp%-Regionai <br />Board, Treasure Coast Regional Planning Council, the State Health and Human Services Committee and as an <br />altemate member of the Metropolitan Planning Organization; as liaison for the St. Johns River Water Management <br />District and the Community Oriented Police Enforcement Committee and was on the Board of Directors of the <br />Indian River County Council on Aging and Keep Indian River Beautiful; and <br />WHEREAS, RUTH M. STANBRIDGE was appointed by Indian River County as the County Historian in <br />1995, a position she holds to this day; and <br />WHEREAS, RUTH M. STANBRIDGE was instrumental in obtaining grants and recognition for the <br />Gifford Community as a Front Porch Florida Community; and <br />WHEREAS, over the years RUTH M. STANBRIDGE received many awards for her conservation efforts <br />on behalf of the Indian River Lagoon, Jungle Trail and the Pelican Island National Wildlffe Refuge; and <br />WHEREAS, RUTH'S tireless work on stornwater management has resulted in her affectionately being <br />dubbed "Stormwater Queen of Indian River County-. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT PROCLAIMED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS, INDIAN <br />RIVER COUNTY, FLORIDA, that the Board appreciates the many hours of dedicated service and recognizes the <br />outstanding contributions of <br />RUTH M. Ginn <br />92" <br />Chairman Stanbridge stated that it has been a joy to serve as Commissioner and as <br />Chairman of the Board and reminded everyone that she will still be in the County. <br />Commissioner Macht noted that he did not know anyone who had ever worked as hard <br />and effectively for the County as Chairman Stanbridge. <br />Vice Chairman Tippin quipped that when Jungle Trail is 4-laned, Chairman Stanbridge's <br />name would be put on it. <br />NOVEMBER 12, 2002 <br />6 <br />
