PR <br />11.2001. <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Adams, SECONDED BY Vice <br />Chairman Stanbridge, the Board unanimously made the above <br />changes to the agenda. <br />n7 <br />ESSNESS <br />X <br />FOR <br />Chairman Ginn read the following proclamation into the record. <br />VIN <br />DESIGNATING THE WEEK OF NOVEMBER 11, 2001 <br />AS HOMELESSNESS AND HOUSING AWARENESS WEEK <br />WE <br />WHEREAS, the Homeless Assistance Center of Indian River County has <br />provided emergency shelter, food, clothing, hygiene, counseling and employment <br />assistance to over 21554 indigent people and homeless families this year; and - <br />WHEREAS, despite Indian River County boasting one of the highest per capita <br />passive incomes nationwide, the average "working poor" income of Indian River County <br />is $650 per month, and <br />WHEREAS, 46% or 709 of the 1,503 homeless people served in the programs <br />offered by the Homeless Assistance Center were families with children; and <br />WHEREAS, the Junior League of Indian River has set November 11th and 17th <br />as food drive days at Publix, Winn Dixie and Wal-Mart; and <br />WHEREAS, the Homeless Assistance Center, in cooperation with the Florida <br />Coalition for the Homeless, as part of Homelessness and Housing Awareness Week, <br />desires to raise awareness of this issue and its severity in our County. <br />November 13, 2001 <br />2 <br />
