Ms. Dunn explained that the Chapter reported 26, 940 volunteer hours for last year <br />about which they are very proud. The retired teachers throughout the state of Florida <br />reported 1,139,555 volunteer hours for the last fiscal year. At $16.02 per hour, it represents <br />$18,255,671; in essence, they had presented the State a check for that amount. <br />5.B. Proclamation Designating November 11. 2003 as Veterans Dav <br />Chairman Macht read the proclamation which was accepted by John Michael <br />Matthews, President of the Indian River County Veterans Council, and Joseph Martorano, <br />the Public Relations Officer. <br />Mr. Matthews thanked the Board on behalf of 18,500 veterans in Indian River <br />County for the financial support of the County and invited everyone to the ceremonies on <br />Memorial Island on November 11 t' <br />Mr. Martorano presented a photograph of what he believed to be the "lost tree" of <br />the Lost Tree Islands. (Photograph has been filed with the backup in the office of the Clerk <br />to the Board.) <br />6.A. APPROVAL OF MINUTES - JULY 224 2003 <br />The Chairman asked if there were any corrections or additions to the Minutes of the <br />Special Meeting of July 22, 2003.
