Commissioner Stanbridge noted that there have been a significant number of <br /> casualties in the last few years at this intersection and the traffic will continue to 3rrow . <br /> O <br /> Traffic Engineer Chris Mora presented a graphic indicating the intersections at 49`", <br /> 45 `" and 41 S` Streets at 58 `" Avenue and noted that flashing lights are provided at 45 1h and 41 S` <br /> Streets . 49 `" Street has a slightly lower accident rate but would certainly bene t from a <br /> flashing light . <br /> Chairman Adams asked for an explanation as to why 45 `" Street has an additional 700 <br /> cars , and Mr . Mora explained that the east side of 45 `" has a much higher volume f traffic <br /> but the figures are averaged . Also , 49`" Street west is unpaved . If the flashing 3ignal is <br /> installed, it will be installed with all equipment available for a change to full sign lization <br /> when the time comes . That signal could be added to the Traffic Signalization Plan as Item <br /> 19 . <br /> Chairman Adams then inquired about a time frame , and Mr . Mora stated it wc uld take <br /> 30 to 60 days for the design and then another 90 days to contract . The work s ould be <br /> completed within 5 to 6 months . <br /> Public Works Director Jim Davis stated that there are plans to build about 1 , 00 feet <br /> of pavement west of Kings Highway on 491" Street , <br /> Commissioner Stanbridge noted that she had received indications that the ret of the <br /> residents in that area may want to go to petition paving at a later date . <br /> ON MOTION by Commissioner Macht , <br /> SECONDED by Commissioner Ginn, the Board <br /> unanimously approved adding the flashing <br /> signalization to the intersection of 491" Street and 58`" <br /> Avenue as Item 19 on the Traffic Signalization Plan <br /> approved at Item 11 .
