Chairman Ginn stated that "this cook intends to stay in the kitchen and again <br />expressed her frustration with "dragging our feet" <br />Commissioner Adams commented that the Commissioners need to remove <br />themselves from the process and let staff handle it. There are several different perspectives <br />and no one is aware of the actions of the others because of the Sunshine Law. This is an <br />administrative matter. <br />Chairman Ginn stated that she is not interfering but had talked with Environmental <br />Chief Roland DeBlois and Community Development Director Bob Keating and had told <br />them that she would not tolerate any further "foot dragging" or other problems. This needs <br />to move forward. When she read the documentation forwarded to Tallahassee, she was not <br />pleased and felt it necessary to go to Tallahassee to try to gain extra points for the project, <br />which was done. She noted that she was the only Commissioner who went to Tallahassee. <br />Commissioner Macht stated that there were very good reasons the other <br />Commissioners did not go. Mr. DeBlois had the matter well in hand and the newspaper <br />articles saying money had been "promised" had already infuriated FCT by implying some <br />sort of backroom deal. The Mayor of the City of Vero Beach had been quoted as saying that <br />he had been promised funding by FCT. <br />Chairman Ginn agreed that was a foolish thing to talk about. <br />Commissioner Macht continued that this is a LAAC matter and there is an ordinance <br />which removes the Commissioners from the negotiating process. <br />Commissioner Stanbridge commented that she did not go to Tallahassee because she <br />was here signing the bond documents for the $11,000,000 bond issue. She did not <br />appreciate anyone implying that she was not for purchasing the islands and reminded the <br />DECEMBER 4, 2001 <br />-120- <br />
