8KJae bC122 <br />Fred Mensing of Roseland, addressed the negative impact that fresh water has on the <br />Lagoon, supported the "buy local" challenge, and thereafter made the following suggestions: <br />(1) establish a 150 -foot wide corridor, for both a road and railroad, around 80th Street, going west <br />toward the County line; (2) an area west of I-95 be designated as a future industrial development <br />and have it accessible for rail service; (3) a high-speed rail run along the turnpike; and (4) <br />developmg an international airport in the western part of the County. He asked the Board to <br />consider his suggestions now, while the land is still available, and to not wait 30 years. <br />Josh Frank, Indian River County resident and business consultant, said he has been in <br />the business of "fixing businesses," and suggested the Board "follow the money." He predicted <br />that turning the economy around would take "sharp effort," and he commended the Board for <br />putting this meeting in place. He encouraged the Board to start working on the highest priority <br />items immediately, purchase the scoreboard for the North County pool, develop the gun range, <br />and do something with Dodgertown, so they can start generating money. Mr. Frank also <br />expressed the need for the abatement program, and the desire to focus on what we can do today <br />to start fixing things tomorrow. <br />Graham Cox, 1213 George Street, Sebastian, told the Board about a Quality of Life <br />Survey that he and the Pelican Island Audubon Society were preparing to initiate. He felt the <br />survey would help contribute to the Board's short and long term goals.
