The <br />amount set aside is $600,000; the Commission will be decide what facilities will be there. <br />Commissioner Adams pointed out there is a Master Plan and that � s one of the <br />benefits of the committees. There has been a lot of support from the south county for a <br />swimming pool. <br />Assistant County Administrator Baird stressed that the needs' costs are greater than <br />the projected funds. He pointed out that recreation is a Comprehensive Plan element and <br />some projects have had to be moved into the future because the money was nDt available. <br />The Chairman opened the public hearing and asked if anyone wished to be heard in <br />this matter. <br />Fred Mensing, Roseland, suggested Indian River County look into a program (like <br />the state of Delaware's) for purchasing the development rights of the groves to try to save <br />some large agriculture areas, particularly in the eastern part of the county. He believed this <br />would benefit future generations. <br />John Williams, Smugglers Cove, thinks Indian River County has done .he best job <br />of any coastal county in Florida.
