7. C. PROCLAMATION HONORING Si'. PETER'S MISSIONARY BAPTIST <br />CHURCH ON ITS 100TH ANNIVERSARY <br />The Chairman entered the following Proclamation upon the record: <br />PROCLAMATION <br />HONORING ST. PETER'S MISSIONARY BAPTIST CHURCH <br />ON ITS 100TH ANNIVERSARY <br />WHEREAS, St. Peter's Missionary Baptist Church was organized in March, 1902, by a <br />group of dedicated members under the leadership of the late Reverend Madison; and <br />WHEREAS, members demonstrated a commitment of service and loyalty to the building <br />of God's Kingdom and played a key role in erecting a building for the purpose of fellowship and <br />worship. When the original structure was damaged by storms between 1926 and 1928, the <br />membership, under the pastorate of Reverend F. Little, proceeded to plan for another building. <br />Between 1930 and 1931, another building presently located on Old Dixie Highway, was erected; and <br />WHEREAS, five pastors served the congregation from 1907 to 1926, and during the <br />years of 1926 to 1955, the flock was led by eleven pastors, who played key roles in providing <br />stepping stones toward the future of St. Peter's; and <br />WHEREAS, individuals who merit recognition and commendation for their contributions <br />during the period of 1956 to 1990 are Pastors F. D. Kitchen, Tom E. Diamond and Ronald Wright, <br />who envisioned another building which would allow for facility accommodations as well as growth in <br />membership; and <br />WHEREAS, during the period of 1991 to 2002, a vision was evident and St. Peter's <br />Missionary Baptist Church, through its Human Services organization, has implemented St. Peter's <br />Academy, one of five Charter Schools in Indian River County; and <br />WHEREAS, having created the St. Peter's Child Development Center and the Boy's <br />Developmental and Training Institute, St. Peters Missionary Baptist Church, under the tutelage of <br />Reverend Andrew Jefferson, continues to be a beacon of light on the Treasure Coast of Florid& <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT PROCLAIMED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY <br />COMMISSIONERS, INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, FLORIDA that the Board congratulates the members <br />of St. Peter's Missionary Baptist Church on its 100th Anniversary, and extends best wishes for <br />continued growth and success. <br />Adopted this 12`" day of March, 2002. <br />MARCH 12, 2002 <br />BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS <br />INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, FLORIDA <br />Ruth M.
