14.A.3. APPROVAL TO PURCHASE TWO (2) CHEVROLET TYPE III <br />AMBULANCES FROM TEN -8 FIRE EQUIPMENT, INC. <br />Vice Chair Bowden, SECONDED by Commissioner Davis, the <br />Board unanimously approved the purchase of two (2) Chevrolet <br />C4500 Type III ambulances from Ten -8 Fire Equipment, Inc. for <br />kg. <br />$259,923.00 with funding from the District Funds on a sole <br />source basis; approved to pay 90% of invoice in advance for the <br />purchase of the two (2) ambulances resulting in a reduction of <br />$7,134,98.00 and using available funds from the capital budget <br />in the amount of $2,788.02, as recommended in the memorandum <br />of February 16, 2007. <br />14.A.4 FIRE RESCUE UPDATE <br />John King, Director of Emergency Services, through a PowerPoint presentation (copy on <br />file) updated the Board on Emergency Services relative to fire rescue, the Sebastian Public <br />Safety Answering Points (PSAP) telephone system, and Animal Control. <br />Regarding the Fire Rescue Consolidation, Mr King relayed that they are now dispatching <br />the closest unit to start providing service, and that has resulted in an 8% increase in productivity. <br />Mr King spoke about the work done by the Fire Prevention Bureau in reviewing plans, <br />performing inspections, and educating the public He also gave statistics regarding the number <br />of emergency calls and responses. <br />Mr. King gave an overview of the location of the current fire stations, with projections <br />for location and completion of new and future stations. <br />March 13, 2007 <br />E S.D. 3 <br />BR 1;2 PG 561 <br />
