Brown <br />Budget Manager <br />Date: March 13, 2002 <br />Subject: Miscellaneous <br />Budget Amendment 009 <br />Description and Conditions <br />The attached budget amendment appropriates funding necessary for the following: <br />1. The Florida East Coast (FEC) Railroad has invoiced the County for several railroad crossing <br />projects this year. In accordance with our rail crossing license agreement, the County is <br />obligated to pay for improvements to crossings made by the railroad. The attached entry <br />appropriates funding from Secondary Roads cash forward. <br />2. The Emergency Services Distnct has incurred expenses for an outside negotiator for union <br />contracts. Emergency Services District cash forward will provide funding. <br />3. Our auditors required accrual of one of the payments to Holmes Regional Medical Center in <br />the last fiscal year The attached entry appropnates funding. <br />4. The Sheriff has requested a budget amendment for Federal pnsoner revenue in the amount of <br />$327,360. This represents half of the projected revenue for this fiscal year. The attached <br />entry appropriates funding. <br />5. The Sheriff has requested a budget amendment in order to purchase an airboat for patrol and <br />emergency search/evacuation at a cost of $25,055. Funding is available from surplus property <br />sales revenue in the amount of $30,055. The attached entry appropriates funding in the <br />amount of $25,055. <br />6. On December 24, 2001, the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) executed a Public <br />Transportation Block Grant for the 2001/2002 fiscal year with Indian River County. The <br />attached entry appropriates these grant funds. <br />7. Indian River County libranes have received donations and contributions totaling $24,877. The <br />attached entry appropriates these funds. <br />8. Indian River County receives an Edward Byrne Memorial drug grant. This grant requires a <br />25% local match. Part of this match is provided by a transfer from the General Fund. The <br />attached entry appropriates funding. <br />Staff Recommendation <br />Staff recommends that the Board of Commissioners approve the attached budget amendment. <br />March 19, 2002 <br />11 <br />• <br />
