• • <br />have to go through the mapping process. <br />Director Keating added that this map is designed to affect only the unincorporated <br />county and the City of Vero Beach. <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Macht, SECONDED BY <br />Commissioner Ginn, the Board unanimously adopted Ordinance <br />No. 2002-008 designating a wind borne debris region that <br />coincides with Figure 1606 of the Florida Building Code and <br />adopting a basic wind speed map; providing for codification; <br />providing for severability; and providing for an effective date. <br />ORDINANCE NO. 2002- 008 <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY <br />COMMISSIONERS OF INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, <br />FLORIDA, DESIGNATING A WIND BORNE <br />DEBRIS REGION THAT COINCIDES WITH <br />FIGURE 1606 OF THE FLORIDA BUILDING CODE <br />AND ADOPTING A BASIC WIND SPEED MAP; <br />PROVIDING FOR CODIFICATION; PROVIDING <br />FOR SEVERABILITY; A_\D PROVIDING FOR AN <br />EFFECTIVE DATE. <br />WHEREAS, the Florida Building Code, Section 1606.1.6 requires that <br />the exact location of wind speed lines shall be established by local ordinance using <br />recognized physical landmarks such as major roads, canals, rivers and lake shores, <br />wherever possible ; and <br />WHEREAS, Indian River County in consultation with a consulting <br />professional engineer has developed the Indian River County wind speed map which <br />identifies wind speed contours by reference to major roads, canals, etc.; and <br />WHEREAS, Indian River County's wind speed map implements Figure <br />1606 of the Florida Building Code which depicts State of Florida Wind Borne Debris <br />Region and Basic Wind Speeds, <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF <br />COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, FLORIDA: <br />SECTION 1.
