Ap� <br />OPERATIONS DIRECTOR <br />SUBJECT: WATER PRODUCTION PUMPING SYSTEM UPGRADE <br />BACKGROUND <br />On January 9, 2001, the Board of County Commissioner's approved the overall <br />Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition System (SCADA) plan for the Water <br />Production and Distribution System. This system will be a single comprehensive, <br />Countywide water production SCADA System to serve the County's Water Production <br />and Distribution Division. As part of this Agenda Item, the Board of County <br />Commissioner's approved Staff to proceed with Phase I of the plan, which dealt with the <br />North County Reverse Osmosis Water Treatment Plant (see attached Agenda Item and <br />Minutes). <br />ANALYSIS <br />Phase I of the project contained three elements: <br />I. Work Authorization No. 1 from ROCHA Controls, Inc., in the amount of <br />$18,084.00. <br />2. Miscellaneous computer hardware and periphery upgrades as determined by <br />Computer Services Department (estimated cost $25,000). <br />3. 10% contingency. <br />Total estimated cost (rounded) $47,500.00 <br />Work Authorization No. 1 from ROCHA Controls, Inc. has been completed and accepted <br />by staff. Staff is currently proceeding with the in-house miscellaneous computer <br />hardware and periphery upgrades at the North County Reverse Osmosis Plant site. Staff <br />is prepared to proceed with Phase II of the project, as outlined in the attached January 9, <br />2001, Agenda Item. <br />The estimated cost for Phase II is $111,700 The overall SCADA plan/budget as <br />outlined for the project and approved by the Board, has not changed. <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />The Staff of both the Department of Utility Services and the Computer Services <br />Department recommends that the Board of County Commissioners approve proceeding <br />with Phase II of the project in the authorized amount of $111,700k.00.
