Commissioner Ginn requested the addition of Item 13.D. a report on the Utilities <br />Advisory Committee's meeting with respect to accepting sludge from other Jurisdictions. <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Adams, SECONDED BY <br />Commissioner Ginn, the Board unanimously made the above <br />additions and changes to the agenda. <br />5. PROCLAMATION DESIGNATING APRIL 2002 AS FLORIDA <br />CONFEDERATE HISTORY MONTH IN INDIAN RIVER COUNTY <br />The Chairman read the following proclamation and presented it to Gene Lee who was <br />representing the Sons of Confederate Veterans of Indian River County. Mr. Lee accepted <br />the proclamation with thanks and noted that we should remember our ancestors and honor <br />those simple people who fought for their homes in the South. <br />PROCLAMATION <br />DESIGNATING APRIL, 2002 <br />AS FLORIDA CONFEDERATE HISTORY MONTH IN <br />INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, FLORIDA <br />WHEREAS, April is the month in which the Confederate States of America began <br />and ended their four-year struggle for a sovereign and independent nation; and <br />WHEREAS, our State Constitution sets aside April 26th as a day to observe and <br />honor the memory of those who lost their lives in the Civil War; and <br />WHEREAS, in proportion to its population, Florida contributed more soldiers and <br />sailors to the Confederate services than any other state and <br />WHEREAS, all Floridians should be knowledgeable of the history of the Civil War <br />battles fought here, including those at Olustee and at Natural Bridge; and <br />April 9, 2002 <br />2 <br />
