i • <br /> 7. 0 PROCLAM.4 TION DESIGNATING MAY 18. 2001 AS INDIAN RIyER <br /> COUNTY MUL TI A GENCY LA W ENFORCEMENT MEMOR19 L MONUMENT <br /> DEDICATION DA Y <br /> The Chairman entered the following Proclamation into the record : <br /> PROCLAMATION <br /> DESIGNATING MAY 18, 2001 AS <br /> INDIAN RIVER COUNTY MULTI AGENCY LAW ENFORCEMENT <br /> MEMORIAL MONUMENT DEDICATION DAY <br /> WHEREAS, the Congress and the President of the United States have <br /> designated May 15th as Peace Officers' Memorial Day, and the week in which May 15th <br /> falls as National Police Week; and <br /> WHEREAS, the members of the law enforcement agency of each municipality <br /> and Indian River County play an essential role in safeguarding the rights and freedoms <br /> of its citizens; and <br /> WHEREAS, it is important that all citizens know and understand the duties, <br /> responsibilities, hazards, and sacrifices of their law enforcement agencies, and that <br /> members of our law enforcement agencies recognize their duty to serve the people by <br /> safeguarding life and property, by protecting them against violence and disorder, and by <br /> protecting the innocent against deception and the weak against oppression; and <br /> WHEREAS, the men and women of the law enforcement agencies of Indian <br /> River County and each municipality unceasingly provide a vital public service; and <br /> WHEREAS, we Honor those who have made the supreme sacrifice of giving <br /> their lives in the line of duty, we Remember those who have gone before us, and we <br /> Challenge those who will come after us to continue the tradition of excellence. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT PROCLAIMED BY THE UNDERSIGNED that they <br /> call upon all citizens of each municipality and the County to observe this day, Friday, <br /> May 18, 2001 , as Indian River County Multi Agency Law Enforcement Memorial <br /> Monument Dedication Day in honor of those law enforcement officers who, through their <br /> courageous deeds, have made the ultimate sacrifice in service to their community or <br /> have become disabled In the performance of duty, and let us recognize and pay respect <br /> to the survivors of our fallen heroes. <br /> O Adopted this 18th day of May, 2001 . <br /> Mayor C.
