10 <br /> t • <br /> ANALYSIS <br /> Staff has reviewed the Manufacturers warranty on the failed valve. The failed valve was <br /> carbon steel with 3/ 16 Stainless Steel inserts . The ball part of the failed valve was coated <br /> with Teflon. The failed valve was rated for acid type applications . Due to the <br /> aggressiveness of the acid, neither the Manufacturer nor the Contractor will warranty the <br /> valve longer than 60 days . The replacement valve is an upgraded 2 -inch ball valve with a <br /> Stainless Steel body and all stainless and Teflon components . <br /> RECOMMENDATION <br /> The Department of Utility Services is requesting Board approval and payment of the <br /> emergency purchase order for the valve replacement in the amount of $ 9725 . 00 (see <br /> attached invoice dated May 2 , 2001 ) . <br /> FUNDING SOURCE <br /> 471 -000- 169-458 . 00 <br /> ON MOTION by Commissioner Adams , <br /> SECONDED by Commissioner Stanbridge , the <br /> Board unanimously approved and authorized <br /> payment of the emergency purchase order with <br /> American Compliance Technologies , Inc . in the <br /> amount of $ 9725 , as recommended by staff. <br /> MAY 159 2001 <br /> BK I S 17 9 <br /> - 19 - <br />
