Chandler, County Administrator <br />John King, Director 1 <br />Department of Emet enc Services <br />Brian Burkeen, EMS Chief lAk-1 <br />Division of Emergency Medical Services <br />April 16, 2002 <br />Approval of Renewal for a Class "El" Certificate of Public Convenience <br />and Necessity for ACTS, Indian River Estates, to Provide Wheelchair <br />Services. <br />On May 16, 2000, the Indian River County Board of County Commissioners approved a renewal of <br />Class "El" Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity for ACTS, Indian River Estates, to <br />provide Wheelchair transportation originating within Indian River County. This certificate was <br />necessary in order to comply with Indian River Code of Laws and Ordinances as specified in Chapter <br />304. The certificate was approved and renewed for a period of two (2) years and will expire May 16, <br />2002. <br />The Indian River County Code provides for routine renewal of the EMS Certificate of Public <br />Converuence and Necessity on an application by the certificate holder. This can be accomplished <br />without a public hearing if the Board has no reason to believe that the public health, safety, and <br />welfare require it Staff submits that there is no reason to hold a public hearing and absent that <br />requirement, the Board is requested to renew the certificate. <br />An application for the renewal of the Class "El" certificate has been submitted by ACTS, Indian River <br />Estates. Staff has reviewed the application and no reasons are known or perceived that would require <br />a public hearing pursuant to the established ordinance. <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />Staff respectfully recommends that the Board of County Commissioners approve renewal of the Class <br />"El' Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity for ACTS, Indian River Estates, to be effective <br />for a period of two (2) years from May 16, 2002, to May 16, 2004. <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Adams, <br />SECONDED by Commissioner Ginn, the Board <br />unanimously approved renewal of the Class "El" <br />Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity for <br />ACTS, Indian River Estates, to be effective for a <br />period of 2 years from May 16, 2002 to May 16, <br />2004, as recommended by staff. <br />MAY 7, 2002 <br />UK�f <br />
