<br /> BACKGROUND :
<br /> In June 1995 , the Board of County Commissioners approved staff recommendations concerning the display of
<br /> exhibits at the Courthouse and associated properties . A copy of those policies and procedures are included as
<br /> part of this agenda item.
<br /> Basically, the procedures require an interested party desiring to use the Courthouse for an exhibit to submit a
<br /> written request to the General Services Director along with a hold harmless agreement. The request is then
<br /> reviewed by the Director of General Services and forwarded with a recommendation to the Board of County
<br /> Commissioners for their consideration. This policy has been enacted several times since its inception and
<br /> appears to have been reasonably successful .
<br /> Clerk of Circuit Court, Jeff Barton, has been contacted about displaying art within the Courthouse and has
<br /> subsequently contacted me relative to placing a picture hanging system in the Courthouse using the Walker
<br /> Picture System as presently used in the Main Library. In response to his inquiry, we have determined the areas
<br /> of the courthouse that he would like to see available for such displays. Mr. Barton has agreed to bear the cost of
<br /> the Walker Picture System if General Services would install the system.
<br /> I have indicated to Mr. Barton that the Board should authorize such system to be installed and that I would bring
<br /> the matter before the Board for their consideration . In essence all three floors would be used for that purpose .
<br /> We have estimated a total of about 475 feet of lineal wall space would be available on all three floors combined.
