• <br />Director Olson rev,ewed the memorandum and called this project a partnership with <br />the Indian River Farms Water Control District and the Florida Department of Environmental <br />Protection that will become a model for the state. Indian River County is in a position to <br />take the lead and get some good financial support. <br />Chairman Stanbridge thanked Director Olson and his staff and felt that we stand to <br />earn recognition from the State in the form of dollars that will pass to our County through <br />the SJRWMD as has occurred in the past. <br />Director Olson responded to Commissioner Macht's question about how to "de - <br />mineralize." Director Olson advised that it was really to dilute the salt concentration in the <br />water brought from the Florida Aquifer. The product will be used for irrigation. Other <br />processes for recovery of other components would be very costly. <br />Commissioner Macht commented that some of the phosphates will be absorbed by <br />the plants and Director Olson added that we are actually creating a manmade wetland system <br />which will have nutrients. <br />Chairman Stanbridge added that technical issues will be coming forth as the process <br />continues. <br />Commissioner Ginn congratulated Chairman Stanbridge for her leadership because <br />Indian River County will be at the beginning of the line for grants on this project. <br />THE CHAIRMAN CALLED THE QUESTION and the motion <br />carried unanimously. (Approved the Resolution Agreement <br />between Indian River County and Florida Department of <br />Environmental Protection and authorized the Chairman to <br />execute same; and authorized payment to FDEP in the amount <br />of $500.00 pursuant to Section G, Paragraph 13, page 12 of the <br />June 4, 2002 <br />93 <br />Bit <br />JI <br />1 <br />• <br />
