RECOMMENDATION: <br />We recommend that option 1 be adopted by the Board, which increases the minimum <br />exemption to $30.00 or less from the current $5 00. <br />Again, we wanted to make the Board aware of their options and will comply with <br />whatever decision they deem appropriate. <br />Thank you for your attention to this matter, and if you have any questions or if we can be <br />of any assistance, please call me at ext. 1337. <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Macht, SECONDED BY <br />Commissioner Tippin, the Board unanimously adopted <br />Resolution no. 2002-033 setting the minimum tax bill at thirty <br />dollars ($30.00) and instructing the Property Appraiser to not <br />make an extension on the tax roll for any parcel for which the <br />tax would amount to less than thirty dollars ($30.00). <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2002- 033 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY <br />COMMISSIONERS OF INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, FLORIDA, <br />SETTING THE MINIMUM TAX BILL AT THIRTY DOLLARS <br />($30.00) AND INSTRUCTING THE PROPERTY <br />APPRAISER TO NOT MAKE AN EXTENSION ON THE <br />TAX ROLL FOR ANY PARCEL FOR WHICH THE TAX <br />WOULD AMOUNT TO LESS THAN THIRTY DOLLARS <br />($30.00). <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 197.212, Florida Statutes (2001), the Indian <br />River County Tax Collector has recommended to the Board of County Commissioners <br />that it should adopt a resolution instructing the Tax Collector not to mail tax notices to a <br />taxpayer when the amount of tax shown on the tax notice is Tess than an amount up to <br />Thirty Dollars ($30.00); and <br />WHEREAS, Section 197.212 provides that any resolution so adopted shall also <br />instruct the Property Appraiser that he shall not make an extension on the tax roll for <br />any parcel for which the tax would amount to less than an amount up to Thirty Dollars <br />($30.00); and <br />WHEREAS, the County Tax Collector has recommended the adoption of such a <br />resolution in light of the cost of collecting $30 and under total tax bills, <br />June 4, 2002 <br />53 <br />i6 <br />1 <br />L. <br />J 7 <br />
