As of October 1 , 2001 , the State will <br /> collect the fees and redistribute them to the counties and municipalities . The . 2 % more than <br /> the basic conversion rate identified for Indian River County would result in a 1 . 7 % <br /> conversion rate for the first year and a 1 . 6 % rate for subsequent years . Should the Board <br /> elect to continue to charge permit fees , the maximum has been set at $ 100 for each fee . The <br /> cable companies will pay their fees directly to the Department of Revenue , who will then <br /> distribute it to local government entities , eliminating the burden of administration of these <br /> fees . <br /> The Chairman opened the public hearing and asked if anyone wished to be heard <br /> regarding this matter . There being none , the Chairman closed the public hearing . <br /> ON MOTION by Commissioner Macht , <br /> SECONDED by Commissioner Tippin , the Board <br /> unanimously adopted Ordinance 2001 - 019 electing <br /> to increase the local communications services tax <br /> conversion rate to minimize the fiscal impact of the <br /> Communications Services Tax Simplification Law <br /> on Indian River County ; electing to increase the total <br /> rate for the local communications services tax by <br /> 0 . 24 percent in lieu of imposing permit fees on <br /> providers of communications services that use or <br /> occupy county roads and rights - of- way for the <br /> JULY 312001 BK 4 18 PG 7 6 7 <br /> - 68 - <br /> u - 7777- 7`77 77 <br /> S <br />
