Commissioner Caroline D. Ginn <br />Chairman, Utilities Advisory Committee <br />The four month moratorium on Indian River County accepting new out -of -County sludge will <br />expire on August 16, 2002. <br />At the Utilities Advisory Committee (UAC) on August 1, 2002, the UAC voted to recommend to <br />the Board of County Commissioners that they extend the moritonum until December 16, 2002. <br />It is expected that all adjustments and renovations to the sludge treatment plant and the odor <br />control system will be completed by that date, and a more thorough evaluation can then take <br />place. <br />Although this does not address the problems experienced at the landfill because of the sludge, it <br />does address the odor problem. <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Macht, SFCONDI-iD BY <br />Commissioner Adams, the Board unanimously extended the <br />moratorium for accepting new out -of -county sludge until <br />December 16, 2002, as recommended by the Utilities Advisory <br />Committee. <br />13.D.2.
