• <br />Commissioner Macht continued that he believed that the $3 recently added for moving <br />violations is used in criminal courts for the benefit of felons and is grossly unfair to the general <br />public. He spoke to Ms. Vander who teaches at the high school and says their driver education <br />program is sufficient now. He asked the Board to either defer the matter until the following <br />week or not to support the effort. <br />AUGUST 20, 2002 <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Adams, SECONDED <br />by Commissioner Tippin, the Board, by a 3-1 vote <br />(Commissioner Macht opposed and Commissioner <br />Ginn absent) adopted Ordinance 2002-026 <br />implementing the Dori Slosberg Driver Education <br />Safety Act, providing for definitions, providing for the <br />creation and administration of the Indian River County <br />Traffic Education Program Trust Fund, providing for <br />the Clerk of the Circuit and County Court to collect an <br />additional $3.00 with each civil traffic penalty assessed <br />in the incorporated and unincorporated area of Indian <br />River County to be deposited into the Indian River <br />County Traffic Education Program Trust Fund to fund <br />traffic education programs in public and nonpublic <br />schools, providing for a quarterly report, providing for <br />grants from the Indian River County Traffic Education <br />Program Trust Fund and providing for severability, <br />codification and an effective date. <br />33 <br />L)4t <br />• <br />
