Pursuant to Section 196 . 075 , <br /> Florida Statutes ( 2000 ) , Allowing an Additional $ 25 , 000 Homestead <br /> Exemption for Taxes Levied by Indian River County and its Dependent <br /> Special Districts and Municipal Services Taxing Units for Certain Persons <br /> Who Have Attained Age Sixty-five Who Meet the Constitutional and Statutory <br /> Requirements for Such Additional Homestead Exemption ; Providing for <br /> Definitions ; Providing for Annual Adjustment of the Income Limitation : <br /> Providing for an Annual Submittal of a Sworn Statement of Household <br /> Income , and Providing for Severability , Codification , and an Effective Date . <br /> Recommendation : <br /> It is recommended that the Board of County Commissioners adopt the attached <br /> proposed ordinance following a public hearing , and direct the Clerk to the Board to file the <br /> ordinance with the Department of State of the State of Florida within ten ( 10 ) days after <br /> enactment , and to deliver a certified copy of the ordinance to the Indian River County <br /> Property Appraiser prior to December 1 , 2001 . <br /> Discussion : <br /> Following public discussion , the Board of County Commissioners authorized the <br /> drafting of an ordinance granting an additional homestead exemption to persons 65 years <br /> of age and older who meet certain household income requirements .
