Frank Zorc, 2044 DeLeon Avenue, read from a prepared statement (COPY OF <br />STATEMENT IS ON FILE WITH THE BACKUP FOR TODAY'S MEETING). He <br />emphasized that the Dodgers are a fine team who give pleasure to fans of all ages and he did <br />not want them to leave. He did believe that monies are being taken from the middle-class <br />and poor citizens and being given to the richest people on earth. He was strongly opposed <br />to the transaction. <br />Brian Heady interrupted Mr Zorc to announce that he believes people are being <br />turned away from the meeting. <br />Chairman Ginn apologized for the interruption and announced that everyone in the <br />Chambers must be seated to comply with the Fire Marshall's rules. There are more seats in <br />the hallway and audio of the meeting is available there. <br />Mr Zorc continued that an article in the Press Journal quoted Commissioner Macht, <br />"the arch designer and supporter of the Dodger Deal", as saying that there are a few <br />"housekeeping" matters yet to approve. He went on that the article quoted Commissioner <br />Macht again as saying that "the details are so complex they would be inaccessible to the <br />general citizens". <br />Mr. Zorc believed that Mr. Macht was telling the public that they are too "stupid" to <br />understand the deal and that Mr. Macht made sure no advertised public hearings were ever <br />held to truly educate the taxpayers before administration planned the deal "secret" from the <br />public. <br />Mr Zorc continued that he believed that 95% of the citizens do not want this deal. <br />He asked for a delay to hold a referendum vote and asked the Board not to leave the <br />taxpayers with their only option a legal battle in court. He emphasized that he was not <br />making threats but that he wanted the Commission to seriously consider getting this <br />AUGUST 7, 2001 <br />-57- <br />BMX 119 DG 070 <br />• <br />
