Baird, County Administrator
Vincent Burke, P.E., Director of Utility Service
Subject: National Estuary Grant Proposal- Request to apply
DESCRIPTIONS AND CONDITIONS:
ge
The Utilities Department would like the opportunity to pursue grant funding from the Indian River
Lagoon National Estuary Program (IRLNEP). Florida Environmental Consulting, the County's
wetland treatment system contractor, would prepare and submit two applications to the NEP for
potential TMDL reduction projects at the West Regional WWTP wetland treatment system. There
is no cost to the County to submit the application request.
FUNDING:
There is no cost to the department to apply. However if the IRLNEP grant funding is awarded
to the County then the County may have to participate in an amount not to exceed $30,000 to
$35,000 as the Counties share. These funds will be derived from Utility Operating Fund 471.
The appropriate funds will be detailed at a later date once County has received notice of
award.
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends the approval to submit request to the Indian River Lagoon National Estuary
Program.
APPROVED FOR AGENDA:
By:
For:
Joseh A.
