11.B. INDIAN RIVER COUNTY LEGISLATIVE PRIORITIES FOR 2014 LEGISLATIVE <br />SESSION <br />Administrator Baird asked the Board to confirm the following list of legislative priorities <br />to be discussed at the 2014 Legislative Session at the Vero Beach City Hall on December 5, <br />2013: <br />• Vero Beach Electric — Sale to Florida Power and Light (FPL) <br />• Indian River Lagoon - Funding North and Central Lagoon projects, including <br />sewer construction <br />• Utility Service Areas <br />• Community Redevelopment Agencies — percentage of funds to be retained by the <br />County <br />• Increase in County funding for court -related functions <br />• Pension Reform <br />• Enterprise Zone, Continuation of and adding Fellsmere to eligible municipalities <br />• Uniform Chart of Accounts — Opposition to <br />• Department of Juvenile Justice Overcharges <br />• Beach Renourishment <br />After discussion, the Board decided to approach the legislators about adding to Brevard <br />County's Foreign Trade Zone, the portion of Indian River County that falls within a 60 -mile <br />radius of Port Canaveral. <br />Chairman O'Bryan revealed that at the December 3, 2013 Board of County Commission <br />meeting he would be seeking the Board s input on his proposal to support the concept of Home <br />Rule with regards to vacation rentals. <br />BI. 144P6607 <br />November 19, 2013 18 <br />
