Further discussion ensued, after which Vice Chairman Davis suggested allocating <br />$800,000, rather than the suggested $750,000, in an effort to revitalize the fleet, and then begin <br />replacing 20% of the high mileage vehicles on an annual basis in a five-year rotation cycle. <br />Commissioner Flescher announced he would amend his Motion to reflect an allocation of <br />$800,000, and Commissioner Solari withdrew his second. <br />MOTION WAS AMENDED by Commissioner Flescher, <br />SECONDED by Vice Chairman Davis, to approve <br />funding in the amount of $800,000 for the purchase of <br />replacement vehicles for the Sheriff's fleet; funding will <br />be provided by the Optional Sales Tax fund. <br />Fred Luongo, 725 10th Court SW, commented on the importance of proper vehicle <br />maintenance. <br />Commissioner Flescher confirmed that the Sheriff's office has its vehicles serviced every <br />3,000 miles. <br />The Chairman CALLED THE QUESTION and by a 4-1 <br />vote (Commissioner Solari opposed), the Amended <br />Motion carried. <br />10.
