• <br /> The Chairman opened the Public Hearing . There being no speakers , the Chairman closed <br /> the Public Hearing . <br /> Corbett Alday , Guardian Community Resource Management Group, briefly conducted <br /> the Fair Housing Workshop . He reviewed the citizen' s participation plan requirements that will <br /> assist staff in applying for the CDBG . He provided the background and focus of the CDBG <br /> program, the application process , and the four grant categories that the County would be eligible <br /> to apply for (housing rehabilitation, commercial revitalization, neighborhood revitalization, and <br /> economic development) . <br /> Vice Chairman Wheeler clarified that the primary use of the grant funds would be for <br /> sewer projects . Director Olson acknowledged the funds would be used for sewer projects , but <br /> hoped some could be used for stormwater cleanup and drainage improvements . <br /> Commissioner O ' Bryan supported the submittal of the grant application but felt the • <br /> likelihood of receiving the funding would be slim because during a Statewide Regional Planning <br /> Council meeting, a Trade Association Attorney based out of Washington, D . C . , revealed that the <br /> current mood in Washington, D . C . , with the budget cuts , is that local CDBG project funding <br /> would be almost nil . <br /> ON MOTION by Commissioner Flescher, SECONDED <br /> by Commissioner Davis , the Board unanimously : ( 1 ) held <br /> the Fair Housing Workshop ; (2) opened the first public <br /> hearing to obtain public input regarding the County ' s <br /> community development needs ; and (3 ) directed staff to <br /> pursue the new Community Development Block Grant <br /> (CDBG) funding, as recommended in the memorandum of <br /> June 24, 2011 . <br /> July 5 , 2011 14 14 1 PG 0 8 8 <br />
