APRIL 6 , 1954 <br />The Board of County Commissioners of Indian River County, Florida, met at the <br />Court House in regular meeting at 9:00 o'clock A. M. Tuesday, April 6, 1954, with the follow- <br />ing members present: Commissioners W. C. Graves, Jr., Chairman, Aubrey L. Waddell, J. J. P. <br />Hamilton, H. C. Watts and Allison `Marren. Also present were E. E. Carter, Road & Bridge <br />Superintendent, Sherman N. Smito, Jr., Attorney, L. B. O'Steen, Sheriff and Douglas Baker, <br />Clerk. <br />Minutes of March 2nd regular meeting were read and the same approved on Motion <br />of Commissioner Hamilton, seconded by Commissioner Warren and carried. <br />Mr. H. E. Kjorstvick presented a Plat of Ercildoune Heights Subdivision No. 1, <br />and the same was approved on Motion of Commissioner Waddell, seconded by Commissioner Hamilton <br />and carried. <br />At the request of Mrs. Rosemary Richey, Supervisor of Registration, the Board <br />approved the employment of a deputy Supervisor of Registration for a period of several days <br />or as long as necessary. <br />Pursuant to Notice Inviting Bids on tractors as shown at page 9393, Book 4, <br />the following bids were received: <br />Square Deal Machinery Co. <br />Glades Grove & Supply <br />Fla. Georgia Tractor Co. <br />Sunrise Motor Co. <br />Hydraulic Oper. <br />(7' Bar) $29018.75 <br />(7' Bar) 2,557.50 <br />Mechanical Oper. <br />(6') $1,558.05 <br />(61) 1,635.56 <br />1,890.00 <br />(Plus for Highspeed Trans- 146.00 <br />mission) 2,036.00 <br />Upon the recommendation of E. E. Carter, Road & Bridge Superintendent, and <br />upon Motion of Commissioner Hamilton, seconded by Commissioner Waddell and carried, the Board <br />agreed to purchase the Allis Chalmers Tractor from Square Deal Machinery Company for the sum <br />of $2,018.75. <br />Upon Motion of Commissioner Waddell, second ed by Commissioner Hamilton and <br />carried, the Board agreed to pay the monthly telephone bills for the Soil Conservation Office <br />not to exceed the sum of $10.00 per month. <br />Upon Motion of Commissioher Hamilton, seconded by Commissioner Watts and <br />carried, the Board agreed that work shall be done on the road from Wabasso Legion Hall North, <br />thence East into U. S. nl via the Post Office just as soon as money is available. <br />The Board instructed Attorney, Sherman N. Smith, Jr. to prepare Notice that the <br />Board has a used tractor for sale and that said notice be posted on the bulletin Board at the <br />front door of the Courthouse. <br />Upon Motion of Commissioner Waddell, seconded by Commissioner Watts and carried, <br />the Board approved Dr. C. A. Pigford as County Health Officer, effective May 1st. <br />Upon Motion of Commissioner Waddell, seconded by Commissioner Hamilton and <br />carried, the Board agreed to pay expenses for Elmer Harris, County Service Officer, to the <br />Third Annual State Wide Service Officer's School and Conference at Daytona.Beach on May 5, <br />6, 7 and 8th not to exceed the sum of $50.00. <br />Seth Kittrell, Vice President of the Board of Realtors, appeared before the <br />Board regarding information as to the County Planning and Zoning Board. <br />Chairman Graves requested E.
