Jason Redman, Sideline Radio Show - concerned about the loss of free fields for non - <br />private groups such as Little League <br />Althea McKenzie, representing Gifford Little League — concerned about possible <br />impacts to Gifford youth <br />Derek Muller, co -host of Sideline Radio Show — mentioned the need to have cost-free <br />space available for other youth sports activities <br />Assistant County Administrator Michael Zito responded that IRSC's plan has been vetted <br />through the baseball community for a year, and that they will be reinvesting all revenue back into <br />the site. He stressed that the project is completely independent from Gifford Community Park, <br />and that the recreational component of the Gifford Neighborhood Plan will be discussed on <br />October 5, 2013. <br />Chris Thomas, Indian River Sports Complex, Inc., disclosed that he is in communication <br />with Little League representatives. He described his plans for the 16th Street recreational site, <br />and affirmed the group's intention to make the County a better baseball community. <br />MOTION WAS MADE by Commissioner Solari <br />SECONDED by Vice Chairman Davis to approve and <br />authorize the Chairman to execute the Lease Agreement <br />with Indian River Sports Complex Inc. <br />Freddie Woolfork, 4950 57th Avenue, provided a history of the Gifford Progressive <br />Civic League (GPCL) and asked that they be included in discussions involving the community. <br />A brief discussion ensued about pending lighting improvements that will soon be made at <br />Gifford Community Park. <br />August 20, 2013 18 <br />8} 144 PG 196 <br />
