There being no further business, on motion made, seconded and carried, the <br />Board then adjourned. <br />ATTEST: <br />CLERK <br />CHAIRMAN <br />TUESDAY, JUNE 1, 1954 <br />• The Board of County Commissioners of Indian River County, Florida, met at the <br />Court House in regular meeting at 9:00 o'clock A. M. Tuesday, June 1, 1954, with the follow- <br />ing members present: Commissioners W. C. Graves, Jr., Chairman, Aubrey L. Waddell, J. J. P. <br />Hamilton, H. C. Watts and .Allison Warren. Also present were E. E. Carter, Road & Bridge <br />Superintendent, Sherman N. Smith, Jr., Attorney; L. B. 'Steen, Sheriff and Douglas Baker, <br />Clerk. <br />Minutes of May 4th regular meeting were read and the same approved on Motion <br />of Commissioner Waddell, seconded by Commissioner Hamilton and carried. <br />W. T. Erickson, Attorney, along with his clients Knight and Mathis, were present <br />and stated they were contemplating making commercial garbage collections within the county <br />but outside of the city limits as a public service. He further stated that they were licensed <br />to do this work and wanted permission to use the county dumps'. The Board said they had no <br />objection in that the county dumps were to be used for the benefit of the general public. <br />Messrs. MacDonald and Hanshaw of Roseland and Sebastian appeared before the <br />Board and wanted to know whether or not any change had been made on the U. S. 91 road right- <br />of-way North of Sebastian. The Board advised them that no change had been made. <br />Mrs. Reed Knight, member and representative of the Democratic Executive Committee <br />• of Indian River County, appeared before the Board and requested that a different color regis- <br />tration sheet be purchased and used for the registration of Republicans in order to eliminate <br />confusion and promote more efficiency and accuracy in conducting future elections, The request <br />was granted and it was so ordered upon Motion of Commissioner Waddell, seconded by Commissioner <br />Warren and carried. <br />Mrs. Dahne appeared before the Board regarding the rental of the Porhorsky <br />dwelling. After some discussion in the matter and upon the recommendation of Commissioner <br />Waddell, the Board agreed toxent the Porhorsky house to Mrs. Dahne as is, meaning it's present <br />condition, for the sum of $35.00 per month effective June 1, 1954, which was agreeable with <br />Mrs. Dahne. <br />Mr. Jack McCown, County Agent, appeared before the Board stating that he was <br />taking several of the 4-H Club boys to Gainesville and requested permission of the Board for <br />• a leave of absence from June 14th to July 2nd in order that he could attend the summer school <br />for .Agricultural Extension workers at Gainesville. Upon Motion of Commissioner Hamilton, <br />seconded by Commissioner Marren and carried, the request was granted. <br />
