Be Engineer Inspection <br /> 1 ) No underground utilities shall be backfilled or tested without first being <br /> inspected by the Engineer or his representative . The Contractor shall provide <br /> a minimum 24 hours advance notice to the Engineer of any inspections or test <br /> required by the utility installations . <br /> CO Installation of On- Site Water Piping <br /> All pipe and fittings shall be installed according to AWWA Manual M23 and <br /> Sections 02202 and 02203 of these specifications for P .V . C . pipe . Prior to <br /> installation, all pipe and appurtenances shall be examined for damage and defects . <br /> Under no circumstances shall defective pipe be installed. All lumps, blisters and <br /> excess coating materials shall be removed from the socket and plain ends of each <br /> pipe . While being placed in the trench, care shall be taken to prevent foreign <br /> material from entering the pipe . <br /> As each length of pipe is placed in the trench, the joint shall be assembled and the <br /> pipe brought to correct line and grade . At times when the pipe laying is not in <br /> progress, the open end of the pipe shall be closed by a watertight plug . When <br /> practical , the plug shall remain in place until the trench is pumped completely dry. <br /> D . Installation of Buried Identification Tape <br /> Tape shall be tied to each riser or. fitting and shall run continuously with no splices <br /> between riser or fittings . Tape shall be placed) at a maximum depth of 12 inches <br /> below finished grade directly above the pipe . centerline . Following placement of <br /> tape, the trench shall be backfilled with due caution to prevent displacement or <br /> damage to the tape . Tape shall be installed throughout the entire length of the <br /> project. <br /> 4. TESTING <br /> A. Ali nment <br /> The Contractor shall perform lamping of the gravity sewer system between the wet <br /> well and clean-out upon completion of backfilling. No visible distortion or reduction <br /> from full inside diameter of pipe due to unauthorized curvature, sagging/hogging, <br /> flattening, or obstruction shall be allowed. <br /> Be Soil Testing <br /> Soil testing shall be conducted by an approved laboratory service. All test results <br /> shall be signed and sealed by a Florida Registered Professional Engineer who is <br /> certified to supervise such data collection and provide such test results . Proctor tests <br /> shall be taken for each material type encountered . At a minimum density tests shall <br /> be taken for each foot of lift, in each run of pipe not to exceed 200 foot of separation <br /> per test location. <br /> CADown1oad\techspec-02603 . doc Sc603 -3 <br />
