Be Tests shall be performed by an independent laboratory approved by the Architect. <br /> C . Contractor will pay for testing, including tests which indicated failure; in which <br /> case that test and all costs incurred as a result thereof, shall be paid for by the <br /> Contractor. <br /> D . Standard slump tests shall be taken of the concrete sample for each strength test and <br /> whenever consistency of concrete appears to vary. The maximum slump of <br /> concrete shall be 4 " plus/minus 1 " , unless specifically otherwise noted . Slump for <br /> Reinforced Vertical Columns should be 8 " to 11 " . <br /> E. Concrete that fails by test shall be replaced at no cost to Owner. <br /> F. Test for strength shall be made as follows : <br /> 1 . Slump Test: <br /> One test for each load of concrete at the point of discharge taken out of a <br /> wheelbarrow and not out of the chute. Maximum slump measurements as <br /> stated above. <br /> 2 . Compressive Strength Test: <br /> Randomly test cylinders taken at each major pour; footings, floor slabs, <br /> columns and tie-beams . Two (2) specimens are to be tested at 7 days and <br /> two (2) specimens tested at 28 days . Hold one cylinder for future use if test <br /> does not comply at 28 days . <br /> 30 . All test results are to be reported, in writing, to the Owner, the Architect, the <br /> Contractor and the Concrete Producer on the day test are performed. <br /> 4 . Samples for testing shall be taken at 1 /4 and 3 /4 points of the load <br /> discharged from the mixer. <br /> 5 . If necessary, comply with Architect or Engineer ' s request for additional <br /> cylinders, slump or load test . <br /> PART 2 - PRODUCTS <br /> 2 . 01 CONCRETE <br /> A. Cement shall be Portland cement, ASTM C450 . <br /> Be Aggregates for normal weight concrete shall meet the requirements of ASTM C-33 . <br /> C . Mixing water for concrete shall be potable and meet the requirements of ASTM C- <br /> 94 , <br /> 2 . 02 ACCESSORIES <br /> 03300 -2 <br />
