i <br /> SECTION 0 2 015 - TRENCH SAFETY SYSTEM <br /> PART 1 - GENERAL <br /> 1 . 01 RELATED DOCUMENTS <br /> A. General Conditions and Supplementary Conditions apply to this Section. <br /> 1 . 02 WORK INCLUDED <br /> A. Furnish all labor and materials for installation and maintenance of a trench safety system . <br /> B . Trench excavations in materials other than solid rock, greater than (5) five feet in depth , <br /> or where directed by the Owner' s Representative, the Contractor shall provide a trench <br /> safety system . <br /> 1903 RELATED SECTIONS <br /> A. Section 02200 - Earthwork. <br /> B . Section 02660 - Water Distribution. <br /> C . Section 02700 - Sewerage and Drainage. <br /> 1 . 04 SUBMITTALS <br /> A. The Contractor shall submit to the Owner' s Representative prior to construction, a <br /> "Trench Safety Plan" for protecting employees and the public exposed to the danger of <br /> moving ground for all excavations . The plan shall describe which method of protection <br /> or type of system will be used and where it will be used for each condition or situation <br /> encountered on the job . The plan shall comply with applicable OSHA standards . <br /> B . For any trench shoring system to be used other than shown in Table P-2 from the OSHA <br /> standard for excavating operations, the Contractor must provide certification by a <br /> Registered Professional Engineer that the system proposed by the Contractor provides <br /> protection "equal to" or "greater than" the protection provided by the Trench Shoring <br /> Systems shown in OSHA Table P-2 , <br /> C . The Contractor shall provide a bid item on his schedule of values stating the unit cost of <br /> trench safety. The cost of the trench safety system shall be included in the Contractor' s <br /> base bid, and shall be at no additional cost to the Owner. <br /> 1 .05 QUALITY ASSURANCE <br /> A . The trench safety system shall meet the appropriate requirements established in the <br /> 02015 - 1 <br />
